Guardians Struggle in Loss as Pitching Battle Continues

Yahoo Sports

Guardians offense struggles as pitching battle continues. #5 starter Slade Cecconi pitches well but bullpen struggles. Cleveland looks to bounce back tomorrow.

The Cleveland Guardians lost their second game of the series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday night, with the offense struggling to generate much offense and the pitching staff facing a tough matchup. Slade Cecconi pitched well but faced a high strikeout rate, limiting the damage to just three runs in five innings. However, the bullpen did not fare as well as expected, with Festa and Pallette combined for five walks in two innings of relief.

Shawn Armstrong made an effort at the bottom of the rotation, tossing a scoreless inning but struggling with his control. The Guardians hope to bounce back tomorrow when Parker Messick takes on Andrew Painter in Game 3, starting the series with a favorable matchup and looking to secure the win for their first-ever World Series berth.
