The 24-year-old has come in for plenty of criticism in the past but has shone this season after moving into a central role.
Martin says he’s happy with how he’s played for Hansi Flick’s side. “I think I’ve had a very good season. I started as a full-back, then I moved to center-back, a position I hadn’t played before, but I’ve felt very comfortable there.
I think I’ve competed at the level that Barcelona demands,” he said after Barcelona’s final game of the season against Valencia . “At a collective level, the same, we came from winning three titles, which is not easy at all, and this year we have had some bad knockout rounds, but in the League we have been very good and we also won the Super Cup. ” Martin also spoke about the blow to the head he took to his head against Valencia.
The defender needed stitches but was able to continue. “The kick hurt at first. I felt pain, but later I noticed blood.
