📹 Botafogo snatch late draw, São Paulo make it 8 without a win At MorumBIS, São Paulo and Botafogo drew 1-1 this Saturday (23) in a match valid for the 17th round of the 2026 Brasileirão. The match marked Tricolor Paulista’s return to its home ground in the national championship after a month and a half. And the fans’ excitement kept the cold away before five minutes had even been played, when Artur unleashed a rocket from outside the box, goalkeeper Neto spilled it, and Luciano pounced on the rebound to open the scoring.

Overall, in the first half, Dorival Júnior’s men controlled the action but lacked precision in their finishing. Glorioso, in turn, struggled to create real scoring chances. Injuries, however, once again haunted São Paulo, who lost Luciano and Sabino in the opening half.

After the break, Arthur Cabral and Vitinho both found the net defended by Rafael, but the goals were disallowed for offside. Tricolor’s best chance came from a dangerous effort by Pedro Ferreira, but goalkeeper Neto made a good save. However, in the final minute of regulation, after a corner into the box and a mistake by São Paulo’s defense, Barrera collected the rebound at the edge of the area and fired it into the top corner to level the score.

🚦 Standings After going four rounds without a win in the Brasileirão (two draws and two defeats), eight matches in total, São Paulo stayed on 25 points and could drop out of the G-4 (fourth place), since Athletico-PR (24 points), RB Bragantino, Coritiba, and Bahia — all on 23 points — still play on Sunday. Botafogo, meanwhile, moved to 22 points and ninth place. Tricolor Paulista returns to action next Tuesday (26), when it hosts Boston River at MorumBIS, needing a win over the Uruguayan side to seal a place in the Copa Sudamericana round of 16.

Glorioso has already qualified for the next stage of the continental tournament and visits Caracas in Venezuela on Wednesday (27) in the final round of the group stage. And next weekend brings the final round of the Brasileirão before the break for the World Cup. Botafogo visits Bahia at Arena Fonte Nova on Saturday (30), while São Paulo faces Remo at Mangueirão on Sunday (31).
