While they didn't re-sign Kenneth Walker III, they inked Jaxon Smith-Njigba to a massive deal worth over $160 million. Next on the docket for the Seahawks is the massive extension awaiting superstar cornerback Devon Witherspoon. He's more than deserving of a big deal, and the Seahawks are likely to pay up for Witherspoon.
But why haven't the Seahawks agreed to a deal when they've already gotten a deal done with JSN? ESPN's Brady Henderson revealed one possible reason why a contract has yet to be completed, and it's an interesting situation for the two Super Bowl teams from 2025. Why Devon Witherspoon hasn't signed an extension with Seahawks yet "Some in league circles have wondered if the relatively slow pace could be related to the fact that Witherspoon is represented by the same agency -- WIN Sports Group -- as another star cornerback, Christian Gonzalez, whom the New England Patriots are currently trying to extend," Henderson writes.
This is a very fascinating situation for the Seahawks, as they might, once again, compete with the Patriots, this time overextending their respective star cornerbacks. Both teams will want to pay for their respective corners, but the agency for both Witherspoon and Gonzalez is faced with a tricky situation.
