Seahawks CB Devon Witherspoon to face 10 marquee WR matchups in 2026
Seahawks second-team All-Pro cornerback Devon Witherspoon will face 10 key matchups against premier wide receivers in the 2026 NFL season.
Seattle Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon will face ten matchups against premier wide receivers in the NFL next season that are worthy of circling the calendar for. Washington Commanders star WR Terry McLaurin will be first up for Witherspoon to deal with in Week 3 of next season. McLaurin has gone for 1,000-yards receiving in five of the last six seasons and was named a second-team All-Pro honoree in 2024, before injuries limited him to 10 games played in 2025.
Witherspoon will face a great challenge in Week 5 against San Francisco 49ers WR Mike Evans. Last season spelt tumult for Evans, who was limited to eight games played due to multiple injuries. However, he went for over 1,000-yards receiving in his first 11 seasons in the league prior to 2025, and is an elite scoring threat that will test Witherspoon in Weeks 5 and 12 of next season.
The Seahawks โ matchup against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 13 will present Witherspoon with a pair of daunting challenges against CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. Witherspoon had a shadow rate of 32. 5 percent last season, which suggests that he will likely be used on both 1,000-yard receivers at home against Dallas.
Lamb is one of the most complete receivers in the league, while Pickens is sensational at going up over the top of defensive backs for receptions and making difficult catches. Week 13 against Dallas will open the door to a slate of difficult matchups for Witherspoon in every game to end the year. Witherspoon will have to deal with New York Giants star WR Malik Nabers in Week 14, who will be returning from injury after recording 1,204 REC yards in 2024.
