European miracle: promoted side crowned top-flight champions 😳 The Champions League next year? Off to Luxembourg for the weekend’s feat! FC Atert Bissen were crowned champions of Luxembourg this Saturday afternoon after a 1-0 win over runners-up Differdange.
Differdange, who were top of the table before this Saturday, saw the title slip away from them... on goal difference, as Bissen finished with the same number of points, 65. Bissen’s goal difference: +43; Differdange’s goal difference: +41.
That alone is crazy! But the really wild part of this title win is that FC Atert Bissen started this 2025-2026 BGL Ligue season as a newly promoted side. Yes, Bissen were playing in Luxembourg’s second division last year.
