Recent NBA mock draft pairs Hornets with another 3-point shooter

Despite leading the league in 3-pointers made per game last year, draft experts have the Hornets selecting an efficient shooter in the first round.

The Charlotte Hornets were the NBA's strongest 3-point shooting team last season, leading the league in 3-pointers made per game and finishing third in 3-point percentage. For that reason, many expect Charlotte to look for depth at center or frontcourt defense with their two first-round selections in the upcoming 2026 NBA Draft. However, Adam Finkelstein and Cameron Salerno of CBS Sports have the Hornets going in a different direction .

While each of their selections at No. 14 differ, both writers have Charlotte selecting Iowa point guard Bennett Stirtz at No. 18.

Of all the prospects at the 2026 NBA Draft Combine, Stirtz ranked second when combining shooting percentages from every drill at 74. 6%, 0. 2% off of leader Alex Karaban (UConn).

While Stirtz's shooting could help many NBA teams, the fit doesn't make a lot of sense for the Hornets, especially if they are to re-sign recent trade acquisition Coby White. Either way, the Hornets will still have a great opportunity to add impact and depth to their roster with two first-round selections this June.
