City honour Bernardo with mosaic at CFA Manchester City has honoured captain Bernardo Silva ahead of his final match for the Club on Sunday afternoon. In recognition of his trophy-laden nine years at the Club, leaving as the most decorated player in history of Manchester City alongside John Stones and Phil Foden, Bernardo was presented with a mosaic by Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak. Bernardo’s mosaic, situated by the men’s first team training pitches, was inspired by his second goal in the 4-0 victory over Real Madrid in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final, a pivotal moment that helped secure the Club’s place in the Istanbul final, where City would go on to lift the trophy.

The Portuguese has made 459 appearances during his time at the Etihad, scoring 76 goals and winning 20 major trophies. Bernardo joins former City players including Vincent Kompany, Sergio Aguero and David Silva on a list of those recognised with a mosaic, created by local Manchester sculptor and City supporter Mark Kennedy. Manchester City Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: “Bernardo’s contribution to this football club over nine seasons has been one of constant excellence.

“He has imposed expectations on himself and his teammates that have been a continuous reminder of what is possible. His intelligence, humility and extraordinary professionalism have underpinned so much of Manchester City’s success in that time. “Whether as player or Captain, he has always led by example - committed, intelligent and with extraordinary skill.

Always with a relentless appetite to do what was required to make the difference. “He leaves sharing the status of the Club’s most decorated player. Even more significantly, he leaves with the universal respect and love of the whole City Family.
