Colorado football sets program record with spring semester GPA

Colorado football completed a fine semester in the classroom and head coach Deion Sanders couldn't be more proud.

Colorado football might not have played any games since last November, but the players were working in the classroom this spring. The Buffaloes achieved their best spring semester GPA in school history, at 3. 004.

That mark is the program's second GPA of 3. 0 or higher in the last four semesters. CU's football program is not alone, as 10 athletic programs are on consecutive terms with GPAs above 3.

0, including some with double-digit streaks. 14 of the 15 varsity programs have a cumulative GPA above a 3. 0 this past semester.

"Completing an academic year with back-to-back GPA records is truly remarkable and illustrative of our student-athletes' commitment to success in the classroom," Colorado athletic director Fernando Lovo said in a press release. "I am so proud of Jed Herb and the entire team with the Herbst Academic Center, our coaches, and especially our student-athletes for their incredible work to continually exceed our high academic standards. " Deion Sanders chimed in on the academic success of his program, which has been a big priority for him since taking the helm.
