Mandatory Credit: Trevor Ruszkowski-Imagn Images Caitlin Clark had quite a fiery return to the court after missing Wednesday night’s game with back soreness, as she clashed with officials and opponents throughout the game. But even if she wasn’t necessarily happy with the officiating, it sounds like she would have toned it down a little bit had she realized she received a technical foul before the half.

Just before halftime, Clark and Janelle Salaun were each assessed a technical foul for their on-court interaction after the buzzer. Since it was a double technical, no free throws were awarded, but each player was assessed a foul. Most importantly, each player was given their first technical foul; a second would lead to an ejection.

As it turns out, there was a reason for that: she didn’t know she got the first technical. After the game, Clark was asked about the double technical before halftime, and she made it clear that this was the first time she was hearing about it. “Oh, did I get a technical?

” Clark asked, genuinely unaware that she had received a technical foul before the end of the half. “No way. ” That said, Clark indicated that she wasn’t exactly surprised to learn she received a technical, as she subtly criticized the referees.
