Geno Auriemma © Imagn Images UConn Huskies coach Geno Auriemma has gotten the commitment of French professional player Marine Dursus, who will play for the Storrs school next season. Dursus spent three seasons playing for Angers Basket (UFAB 49) in La Boulangère Wonderligue, France’s top-tier women’s basketball division. Auriemma spoke this Friday about the commitment via a statement, expressing his happiness about the recruitment achievement: “It’s exciting to find players who naturally are blessed with the ability to score,” Geno Auriemma said in a release.
“I think Marine’s greatest assets are she plays exceptionally hard, she’s competitive and she’s used to playing at a high level. She gives us another scorer, which fills a need for us. We’re thrilled that we could add her to our roster.
” Marine Dursus has also played extensively for the French national team, winning a gold medal at the 2024 FIBA U20 EuroBasket tournament, where she earned All-Tournament honors. Previously, she won a silver medal at the 2023 U18 European Championship. She was also part of the French teams for the 2022 U17 World Cup team and the 2021 U16 European Challengers team.
