Erbl teases Bayern move for Gordon: “We’re in agreement that we will sign an attacking player if he can be financed” Max Erbl has said Bayern Munich have an agreement to sign an attacking player if he can be financed this summer, amid ongoing speculation surrounding a move for Anthony Gordon. Gordon is keen to explore his options this summer with the winger open to leaving Newcastle United . The England international's representatives have held talks with Bayern Munich, with an agreement reported to be reached.
Without naming Gordon, Erbl has suggested those reports are accurate. However, the transfer fee remains an issue with Newcastle seeking a proposal of around £75m. The German champions also face rival interest from Premier League clubs.
Speaking to BILD , Erbl said: "We're in agreement that we will sign an attacking player if he can be financed. We had a very good conversation and we hope that we can make progress. " Gordon appeared to wave farewell to the St James' Park crowd following last weekend's final home fixture of the season against West Ham.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe was asked on Friday whether this weekend's clash with Fulham could be Gordon's last game for the club. "It’s a difficult one for me to comment on, in terms of how he should be remembered, because that's us almost saying that he is going, and there's no guarantee. We don't know at this moment whether it will be his last game.
" Why do Bayern Munich want to sign Anthony Gordon? Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga title this season with a record-breaking number of goals, but remain keen to reinforce their frontline. The Bavarians scored 122 goals in 34 league games, a record for a European team in a top-five league this century.
