Yahoo Sports

Texas Rangers starter Jacob deGrom gave up six earned runs in three innings as Los Angeles Angels run away with victory.

Well, Jacob deGrom didn't have a really great outing on Friday night for the Texas Rangers. In fact, the Los Angeles Angels , one of the worst teams in baseball, managed to ambush deGrom en route to a 9-6 win on Friday night at Angels Stadium in Anaheim, Calif. With the loss, deGrom now falls to 3-4 this season.

He worked just three innings, giving up six earned runs, six hits, walked three, and struck out three. But deGrom also gave up two home runs and, well, it just wasn't his night. Angels starter Grayson Rodriguez got the victory, going 5 2/3 innings in getting his first win this season.

Rodriguez gave up seven hits, four earned runs, walked two, struck out five, and also gave up a home run. A four-run first inning had the Angels off and running. Zach Neto hit his sixth home run, a solo shot, and that put his team up 1-0.

Then, with Mike Trout and Jorge Soler on the bases, Wade Meckler hit his first home run this season. His three-run blast off of deGrom staked the Angels to a 4-0 lead after one inning. Then, in the bottom of the third inning, Logan O'Hoppe singled to left, scoring Nolan Schanuel and Soler as the Angels extended their lead to 6-0.
