Alabama Softball Dominates LSU Behind Jocelyn Briski’s Super Regional Masterpiece
Jocelyn Briski retired 21 straight batters in a one-hit shutout while Jena Young’s clutch hitting ignited a powerhouse offense, moving the Crimson Tide within one win of Oklahoma City.
There are big wins, and then there are statement wins. Friday night in Tuscaloosa felt like a statement from start to finish. No.
1 seed Alabama opened Super Regional play by completely overwhelming LSU in a 7-0 shutout at Rhoads Stadium, and the biggest reason why was once again Jocelyn Briski. The junior ace was absolutely untouchable after the first batter of the game, delivering one of the most dominant postseason performances Alabama softball has seen in years. LSU came out swinging and opened the night with a leadoff double that briefly gave the Tigers some momentum.
But after that? Nothing. Briski slammed the door shut immediately.
The Alabama right-hander retired the next 21 straight batters and carved through LSU’s lineup with 11 strikeouts in a complete-game one-hitter. On a night where the pressure was massive and the stakes were even bigger, Briski looked calm, confident and completely in control from the circle. Honestly, it felt like the entire stadium knew LSU was in trouble once Alabama settled in during the first inning.
