A big night for Wilmington-area high school lacrosse teams is in the books, as Friday, May 22, represented state semifinal and quarterfinal matchups across several classifications. We start with the No. 2-seeded Hoggard boys lacrosse team, which punched its ticket to the NCHSAA 8A state title game with an 18-7 win over top-seeded Millbrook in the state semifinals.
It's Hoggard's (18-2) first state championship berth in program history. The Vikings will face Western champion Ardrey Kell in the 8A final on May 29 or 30. See the rest of the Wilmington-area high school lacrosse playoff results from Friday, May 22, below.

Topsail finished second in conference play this spring and will travel to Raleigh on Tuesday, May 26, to take on No. 1-seeded Cardinal Gibbons (19-5). Topsail has never made a lacrosse state championship appearance.
