With that, Red Sox insider Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic noted on Thursday that another outing seemed likely. “Left-hander Danny Coulombe (cervical spasms) made his second rehab outing on Tuesday, allowing one run and recording two outs for Triple-A Worcester.

The club will determine whether he needs another outing,” McCaffrey wrote . The Red Sox didn’t make a decision, but before the game on Friday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive confirmed that Boston wouldn’t be activating him off the injured list. “Red Sox will not be activating Danny Coulombe today,” Cotillo wrote on X .

Boston signed Coulombe to a one-year deal on March 12 as he was expected to give the team another veteran arm out of the bullpen. After a dominant year last season, Coulombe is 0-1 with a 5. 63 ERA in 12 games over eight innings.
