Michigan football secured a commitment from four-star safety Tavares Harrington, a top 2027 recruit, over SEC and Notre Dame.

Midway through spring ball, it didn't seem that Michigan football was in great standing for 2027 Chicago (Ill. ) Mount Carmel four-star safety Tavares Harrington, despite having a great chance for his teammate, four-star wide receiver Quentin Burrell. For the latter, it was prescient, as he committed to the Wolverines this month.

But the Wolverines have surged for Harrington since he visited Ann Arbor for the annual spring game. Having appeared to be a Notre Dame or SEC lean, Harrington started growing closer and closer to Kyle Whittingham and the staff, with the Wolverines eventually taking over as the perceived favorite. That eventually came to pass for the 6-foot-3, 180-pound defensive back, as he chose to play college ball for Michigan over Alabama , Notre Dame, and Ole Miss on Friday night, giving his verbal commitment to the Wolverines live on Rivals.
