Si Woo Kim just missed shooting a 59 at CJ CUP Byron Nelson Round 2

•Yahoo Sports

Si Woo Kim came inches away from setting the course and tournament record at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson Classic on May 22, shooting an 11-under 60 in the second round of the PGA Tour event. His par putt for a 59, a rarity on the highest level of golf, missed by a few inches. Kim, 30, had a bogey-free round for 17 holes that featured six birdies on the front nine for 30 .

He followed that with seven more birdies on the back nine for a 29. Kim tied the course and tournament record at the TPC Craig Ranch — Keegan Bradley shot a 60 in 2013. The last two holes provided some drama, where Kim sank a birdie putt from the fringe of the green on 17, meaning a par on the final hole would give him the record.

Playing with Scottie Scheffler, the tournament's four-round record-holder, and Brooks Koepka, who both made the green in two on the 18th, both players marked their balls and made way for Kim. His chip onto the green did not run much and had about an 18-foot putt for par.

His putt started left but slide by on the right side of the hole. Kim's first and only bogey on the day left his with an 11-under 60. Si Woo Kim misses the par putt on 18 for 59 Truly incredible round of 60 nonetheless for the new @CJByronNelson leader pic.
