Hampshire forces decisive game for trip to states; Petersburg's season ends
CLARKSBURG, W. Va. — Hampshire moved a win away from states, forcing a decisive game two in the Class AAA, Region II final with a 7-5 win at Robert C.
Byrd (RCB) on Thursday. The Trojans (17-11) led 4-0 after two innings, then took the lead for good with two runs in the fifth. Mason Slade got the win, tossing three innings of one-run ball with three strikeouts.
Brayden Hott led Hampshire, going 2 for 4 with two RBIs. The Trojans return to RCB on Friday at 6 p. m.
with a trip to the state tournament on the line. Lincoln 4, Petersburg 0 SHINNSTON, W. Va.
— Petersburg's season came to an end, falling in Thursday's Class AA, Region II final. The Cougars led 5-4 in hits and scored a run across four separate innings. Lincoln's Jacob Bart tossed a complete game shutout, striking out nine.
