Auburn's hosting dreams are alive before SEC Tournament quarterfinals
D1Baseball remains confident that Auburn will lock up a national seed for the NCAA Tournament that begins next week.
The latest postseason projections from D1Baseball show that Auburn remains in a great spot to host an NCAA Regional next week ahead of its matchup with the Texas A&M Aggies in the SEC Baseball Tournament quarterfinals on Friday. The latest NCAA Field of 64 Projections from D1Baseball , released Friday, shows Auburn as the No. 7 overall seed ahead of its game with the Aggies in Hoover.
The No. 7 seed is high enough to host both an NCAA Regional and an NCAA Super Regional. D1Baseball's forecast currently pairs the Auburn Regional with the Hattiesburg Regional, which would be hosted by the No.
10-seed Southern Miss Golden Eagles of the Sun Belt Conference. According to D1Baseball's latest projections, Auburn would host Wake Forest, The Citadel, and North Florida as part of the Auburn Regional. Wake Forest made it to the final day of the Knoxville Regional last season and is having another great season with 38 wins in 2026.
The Citadel is 34-24 this season and remains alive in the Southern Conference Tournament. Finally, North Florida is a 31-win squad, with 22 of those wins coming in A-Sun Conference play. Currently, seven SEC squads are slated to host regionals, with five in line to grab a top-eight seed.
