Former St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Paul DeJong underwent hamstring surgery and was placed on the full-season injured list at Triple-A Toledo. "It will, unfortunately, be a second straight injury-marred season for DeJong.
Last year, he missed over two months after a fastball hit him in the face and caused several fractures," Darragh McDonald of MLB Trade Rumors wrote Thursday. "He was limited to just 57 games with the Nationals and didn’t perform especially well when he was on the field. " DeJong recently signed a minor league contract with the Tigers after opting out of his deal with the New York Yankees at the end of April.
He hit a career high of 30 home runs with the Cardinals in 2019, but he strikes out a ton and hits for little to no average.
