SHIPPENSBURG — After a fifth-place finish at the WPIAL championships in the girls triple jump, West Allegheny's Janiah Hudson found herself near the top of the podium, with a late flight winning her bronze at the PIAA track and field championships on Friday, May 22. "I had no thoughts of PR'ing today," Hudson said. "After jumping a 37-5 my first time out, I wanted to give it all I had.

It was a strong start to the day for Hudson, jumping 37-5 on her first attempt, which held up for most of the event until the final flight.
But on her last jump of the day, Hudson gave it everything that she had and finished with the best flight of her young career, 37-5.
