THE SKINNY Height/Weight : 6-foot-7, 230 pounds Hometown/High School : Lawrenceville, NJ (The Lawrenceville School) Ranking : ★★★ (87 Rivals — No. 52 tight end) Notable Offers : Florida State, Missouri, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Washington HIGHLIGHTS View Link OUTLOOK The Nittany Lions already have one tight end in the class in South Dakota four-star Cooper Terwilliger, but the new staff will carry on the tradition of multiple tight end sets in the offense, meaning getting a second high-end tight end was a must. Enter New Jersey native Sean Currie.
The one-time UVA commit ( Currie is the 28th ranked lacrosse player in his class as well) opened things up after his recruitment took off over the winter, landing offers from Ohio State, Texas A&M, Penn State, and a multitude of others in January. While Currie had planned to take official visits to the likes of Columbus, OH and College Station, TX, he ended his recruitment (hopefully for good) making the call for the Nittany Lions. Currie is a nice fit with Terwilliger, as he projects as more of a receiving tight end in the mold of current Penn State tight end Benjamin Brahmer.
Like Brahmer, Currie has a massive frame at 6-foot-7 that makes him a prime target over the middle and in the red zone. As one would assume with his four-star lacrosse rating, but he’s a nimble athlete for his size. He’ll need to pack on 20-30 pounds to his 230-pound frame, but there’s a ton to like about Currie.
I know I’ve said this about quite a few guys in the class (namely, Carter Blattner and Jamir Dean), but I’d be surprised if he stays a three-star. The offer list tells a better story of the type Currie is.
