Louis Cardinals will now start with a much different feel than expected. Friday night’s game at Great American Ball Park was officially postponed because of rain and will instead be made up Saturday as the first game of a split doubleheader. The makeup game is scheduled for 1:10 p.
m. ET on May 23, with the originally scheduled Saturday game still set for later in the evening. Reds outlook The postponement comes at an interesting time for both National League Central clubs.
Cincinnati entered the series trying to build momentum after taking two of three from the Philadelphia Phillies earlier this week. Rookie infielder Sal Stewart helped spark the turnaround with a breakout series, including a four-hit performance in Wednesday’s 9-4 win. Reds manager Terry Francona praised Stewart’s confidence after the game, pointing to the young hitter’s ability to quickly move past slumps.
