Texas A&M basketball to renew historic rivalry in home and home series

Yahoo Sports

Texas A&M and TCU will renew their historic rivalry with a home‑and‑home series, marking their first campus matchup since 1996.

There is a new opponent on the schedule for head coach Bucky McMillan starting in November, as Texas A&M and TCU have officially agreed to a home‑and‑home series beginning this season. For longtime fans of Southwest basketball, this matchup brings back a familiar name and a rivalry that once carried real weight. These programs shared a rich history from 1914 through 1996, meeting regularly for more than eight decades before conference realignment and shifting schedules pushed the series into dormancy.

Since 1996, the Aggies and Horned Frogs have faced off only twice, both at neutral‑site locations in 2020 and 2021, with TCU winning each of those contests. Now, after a 30‑year wait, the Horned Frogs will finally host Texas A&M again in Fort Worth on November 19, marking the first true road meeting between the two since the mid‑90s. The return game in Bryan‑College Station is set for later in the season, with the exact date to be announced at a later time.

Historically, the Aggies hold an 89–78 advantage in the all‑time series, and the last 10 matchups are split evenly at 5–5. However, TCU enters the renewed rivalry with momentum, having won the last four meetings. Still, this is the kind of matchup you can clearly call a blast from the past, a throwback to an era when these games were intense, emotional, and deeply meaningful to both fanbases.

For those who remember how heated this series used to be, the revival promises to deliver a fun, nostalgic, and competitive showdown once again. What are we gonna do to those horned frogs, Ags? See you in Fort Worth on Nov.
