ONE Friday Fights 155 Main Event Result: Rustam Yunusov Moves To 17-0 With Gritty Decision Win
The 19-year-old thrived in a fiery three-round battle with the Thai clinch technician on May 22.
Undefeated teenage star Rustam “Tomahawk” Yunusov backed up his own words with his best performance yet, grinding out a unanimous decision over Decho Mavinn Muaythai in the flyweight Muay Thai main event of ONE Friday Fights 155 , live in Asia primetime, at Lumpinee Stadium on Friday, May 22. The 19-year-old arrived in Bangkok, Thailand, with a clear-eyed understanding of what he was up against . Decho was a battle-tested Thai clinch specialist who had warned the Russian that the inside game would be his undoing.
He was not wrong about the threat, but Yunusov had answers. View this post on Instagram Decho immediately made the clinch his home in the first, doing his best work every time they locked up and edging the exchanges with sharp knees on the inside. The Team Mavinn Muaythai product also stepped in with punishing step-in knees on the outside to maintain his control of the round.
The 23-year-old lunged back into the clinch in the second and continued to punish with knees. Yunusov tried to swim his way free, but Decho held on like an octopus, refusing to let him breathe. When they did separate, a straight punch careened off the Russian’s chin and left him visibly shaken.
Yunusov, however, stormed back with punch combinations that rattled his opponent and swung the momentum before the bell. The 19-year-old came out in the third frame and hammered elbows into Decho’s temple, but the Thai fired off lefts and rights like pistons breaking through chambers. Wearing the wounds of war with pride, both men stood in the middle of the ring and sent punches at each other — knuckles testing chins and hearts alike.
