Coming off of an 11-2 victory over Stanford on Wednesday, the Canes continued to roll and dismantled BC in the back half of their Thursday match-up, emerging victorious over the Eagles, 8-2.

BC got out to a promising start in the first inning when Jack Toomey brought in Ty Mainolfi on an RBI double, which was followed up immediately by a Kyle Wolff double that brought in Toomey. Their early 2-0 lead would be short-lived, however. In the top of the second, Miami brought in four runs on the back of a Fabio Peralta 2-run homer, assisted by a fielder’s choice RBI and then a wild pitch later in the inning.

Miami added to their lead in the fourth inning when Alex Sosa homered for another two runs, making it a 6-2 ballgame. The Eagles’ bats could never find their footing. After their promising start, BC only managed 3 hits in the remaining 8 innings.

A promising 6th inning was cut short by a double-play, and the Eagles got shut out for the rest of the contest. Miami starter Lazaro Collera came out with the win after pitching 5 innings, and BC was eliminated from the conference tournament, 8-2. The NCAA tournament field will be selected this upcoming Monday May 25th, which gives Boston College one final shot at postseason success.

The tournament will start shortly after, on Friday May 29th.
