Gotham FC provides injury update on goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger

The defender has been discharged from the hospital in Pachuca after sustaining an abdomen injury.

(Photo by Oscar Fuentes/Jam Media/Getty Images) | Getty Images Gotham FC announced that goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger has been discharged from the hospital in Pachuca, Mexico after suffering an abdomen injury in the club’s CONCACAF W Champions Cup semifinal against Club América. The goalkeeper went down with injury at the end of the first half of the fixture and was taken out of the match at the start of the second half after being stretchered off the field.

Berger’s injury occurred in the final play of the first half, when Club América had a fast break opportunity. The goalkeeper put her body on the line to claim the ball before América forward Scarlett Camberos could take a shot. The two players collided as Berger took hard contact to her abdomen, and she received treatment on the pitch before being stretchered off.

Gotham FC faces C. F. Pachuca Femenil in the third-place match of the tournament on Saturday, May 23rd at 6 pm ET.
