The women advanced to the match-play portion and lost in the quarterfinals a year ago, while the men were national runners-up to Oklahoma State.
Earlier this month, the Cavalier women advanced from the Chapel Hill Regional, led by junior Jaclyn Laha and her score of even par. After all three rounds, the ‘Hoos were tied with Michigan State and NC State in fourth place at 18-over, requiring a playoff to determine the final two teams advancing to the NCAA Championships. The Spartans and Cavaliers advanced from the playoff.
This season marks the sixth time that coach Ria Scott has guided the women to the NCAA Championships since taking over the program ahead of the 2019 season. The best finish in program history is a pair of consecutive fourth-place finishes in 2011 and 2012. On the men’s side, senior Ben James, the No.
3-ranked amateur in the world, led the Cavaliers, winning the individual competition by three strokes and setting an NCAA Regional record 54-hole score of 194, breaking his own record of 196, set in 2023. His 19-under score relative to par was one stroke away from his record of 20-under set that same year. James’s win was the second NCAA Regional win of his career and marks the third time in the past four years that a Cavalier has won the individual portion of their regional after Paul Chang won a year ago.
