Pair of OLSH javelin throwers reach podium at PIAA championships
A pair of OLSH javelin throwers finished beside each other on the podium at the 2026 PIAA track and field championships.
SHIPPENSBURG — It was already a special day for OLSH juniors Trey Moses and Owen Wasko, with the pair both competing in the boys 2A javelin throw at the PIAA track and field championships on Friday, May 22 at Seth Grove Stadium. The day got sweeter for the pair, with both reaching the podium as Moses placed fifth, while Wasko finished sixth. "We are just here to push each other.
It is great friendly competition between the two of us which makes the event enjoyable," Moses said. At the WPIAL championships, Wasko threw a personal best 178-11, marking the 27th best throw in the state in 2026 to capture gold. "With me coming off an injury, I just came into today wanting to throw as far as I could. That is all I cared about doing today," Wasko said. Moses finished in fourth at the WPIAL meet with a personal best throw of 163-07 to earn an automatic qualification at the state meet.
Not expecting to have another personal best, Moses continued his strong postseason with another top throw, posting a 181-9 distance on his third attempt. "Coming into today, I wasn't expecting to throw the way that I did," Moses said. "We did something with that throw today and I am happy with the placement.
