To find one, they may have to snag a talented free agent from the Charlotte Hornets . Coby White is heading for the open market, and someone will pay him quite solidly to be a dangerous scorer and shooter for their offense. Detroit could use the firepower, but Charlotte will have a chance to keep White, too.
ESPN's Bobby Marks, in a new article on Friday , listed the two Eastern Conference teams as his "best fits" for White. MORE: Bronny James' golf swing makes his dad look bad Marks projects a three-year, $54 million deal for White and then analyzes mostly why it'd make sense for Charlotte to keep him. "The Hornets started free agency early when they acquired White at the February trade deadline," Marks writes.
"They inherited his Bird rights, allowing them to sign him as a free agent and exceed the salary cap. Without the trade, Charlotte did not have cap space to sign the guard outright. In 21 games off the bench after the trade, White averaged 15.
