Harbor Creek and Fort LeBoeuf set for District 10 softball showdown
Harbor Creek and Fort LeBoeuf won in the District 10 Class 4A softball semifinals to set up a showdown for the D-10 title.
Addison Lucas became a college recruit through dominant pitching over the past four years. The senior, however, reached 100 career hits and drove in her 100 th RBI on May 21 to lead Harbor Creek to a 12-2 win over Slippery Rock at Penn State Behrend. Harbor Creek (16-5) moves on to the District 10 Class 4A softball championship against rival Fort LeBoeuf on May 25, while Slippery Rock ends the season 9-10.
Lucas, an Akron recruit, struck out seven and allowed just two runs on three hits in five innings to get the win. It was her performance at the plate, however, that became historic in the win. It was her 100 th career hit, joining teammate Brooklynn Cipalla, who reached 100 hits earlier this season. In the bottom of the fifth inning with the mercy-rule run standing on third base, Lucas lifted a sacrifice fly to left field to end the game. It was her 100 th RBI, which is a Harbor Creek record.
โIt feels really good. I've worked hard to reach those milestones,โ Lucas said. โGetting them in the playoffs is even more exciting because they came in a big game.
