Newcastle release 26 players in summer clear-out

With 23 players arriving for 2026-27, Newcastle Red Bulls announce the departures of 26 players from their first-team squad.

Scrum-half Sam Stuart is the most senior of those with the 34-year-old having played 134 times for the club over the past nine years. Winger Elliott Obatoyinbo and locks Seb de Chaves and Jamie Hodgson also depart, while Italy hooker Hame Faiva and Wales full-back Liam Williams announced their retirements earlier this season.

With two league matches left, Newcastle are set to finish bottom of The Prem, but they have recruited 23 new players for the 2026-27 campaign. Flanker Tom Gordon leaves after two years, while last summer's imports - Amanaki Mafi, Boeta Chamberlain, Stefan Coetzee and Fergus Lee-Warner - also exit Kingston Park as their one-year deals come to an end.
