The official scorer might want to think about this some more.

Ernie Clement has a lot of success for the Toronto Blue Jays against the New York Yankees . His latest double for the Jays against the Yanks, though, might need another look from the official scorer. This double came on a groundball that Clement hit between the third baseman, Ryan McMahon, and the shortstop, Anthony Volpe, during Thursday night's action.
McMahon ranged to his left and hit the ball with his glove. That deflected it past Volpe and into shallow left field. Clement noticed that the ball was in no-man's land, put on the afterburners and raced to second.
It was ruled a double -- essentially saying it was too difficult a play for McMahon to be called an error. And, well, that's a tough sell: This got ruled a double. Great reminder why ERA isn't always the best way to evaluate pitchers and why ERRORS are rarely the best way to evaluate defense.
