Man Utd confirm permanent appointment of Michael Carrick Manchester United have confirmed the appointment of Michael Carrick as the new permanent manager of the club. The former Red Devils midfielder took over at Old Trafford midway through the season following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim . Carrick oversaw an improvement in results and guided the team to a third place finish and a return to Champions League football with games left to spare.

His efforts have now been rewarded with the job on a permanent basis with Carrick signing a two-year contract until the end of the 2027/28 season with the option of extending for a further season. Carrick's backroom staff, consisting of Steve Holland, Jonathan Woodgate, Travis Binnion, and former teammate Jonny Evans, have also been handed new deals. "From the moment that I arrived here 20 years ago, I felt the magic of Manchester United," Carrick said about getting the job.

"Carrying the responsibility of leading our special football club fills me with immense pride. "Throughout the past five months, this group of players have shown they can reach the standards of resilience, togetherness and determination that we demand here. "Now it’s time to move forward together again, with ambition and a clear sense of purpose.

Manchester United and our incredible supporters deserve to be challenging for the biggest honours again. " Since taking over, Carrick has overseen 16 games with a record of 11 wins, three draws, and two defeats. United still have one game remaining this season away to Brighton & Hove Albion , in which young players are expected to be given a chance to impress.
