If it feels as if it’s been a long time since the NCAA men’s lacrosse championship has been contested in the Commonwealth of Virginia, well, that’s because it indeed has been. The lacrosse world turns its attention to Charlottesville, Virginia. , which hosts the festivities for the first time since 1982.

Obviously, a lot has evolved in the sport since then, but all of the four programs involved in this year’s semifinals have claimed multiple championships in those intervening years. Curiously, it’s the team seeded first that that has been waiting the longest to earn another title.
