Eight teams will have the honor of lifting trophies over the extended Memorial Day weekend after best-of-three championship series at three minor league ballparks and one college stadium around the state. This year's finals feature three schools trying to repeat after winning state last year in Troup (3A), Gordon Lee (1AD1) and Lanier County (1AD2), but most of the brackets feature an entirely new set of finalists. They include some national powers like North Oconee (4A), which is No.
37 in the country according to MaxPreps, along with No. 39 Pope (5A) and No. 43 North Paulding (6A).
The 6A finals start last and may draw the most attention as North Paulding meets Etowah in a rematch of an early season series that saw the Wolfpack take two of three.
