Jacksonville Jaguars voluntary OTAs: 3 position battles to watch

Yahoo Sports

For the Jacksonville Jaguars, everything is about competition and as Organized Team Activities get set to kickoff, here are our 3 positions to watch.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are set to kick off Organized Team Activities in late May, the first time the team's coaching staff and front office will get a look at all players on the team's roster. Earlier in May, the Jaguars showcased the team's 10 drafted rookies and, at the time, 17 undrafted rookie free agents who participated in rookie minicamp . That number is down to 26 in all, with one UDFA retiring ahead of rookie camp, another shortly thereafter.

The Jaguars are beginning OTAs after posting a historic 13-4 campaign that resulted in an AFC South title. Entering the 2026 NFL Draft, the Jaguars did not hold a first round pick, exiting the draft with tight end Nate Boerkircher as their top selection at pick No. 56, opting to stand pat rather than mortgage their future to trade up.

O'HALLORAN: An inside look at Jaguars rookie Nate Boerkircher's improbable NFL path In essence, the draft was set up as a volume play for the Jaguars. The team was able to add 10 quality players to their roster, primarily helping with the team's depth at multiple positions on both sides of the football. Ahead of the draft, Jacksonville — for all intents and purposes — stayed out of free agency, opting to re-sign multiple of the own players before bringing in former Washington Commanders running back Chris Rodriguez Jr.

Rodriguez hit the open market as a non-tendered restricted free agent. The team also saw running back Travis Etienne and linebacker Devin Lloyd depart via free agency. With a slew of new players set to hit the roster, and numerous players already on the roster ready to step up, we took a look at a few of the competitions to track as OTAs begin.
