LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - JULY 10: Conor McGregor of Ireland prepares to fight Dustin Poirier during the UFC 264 event at T-Mobile Arena on July 10, 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC) Conor McGregor, age 37, hasn’t fought in nearly five years. Not only did McGregor lose that trilogy match versus Dustin Poirier back in 2021, but broke his leg in the process .

As a result of that injury (and a drug test related suspension) , his return has been delayed and postponed repeatedly. Thankfully, the McGregor drought is almost over. Just a few days ago, UFC officially announced his return at UFC 329 on July 11 opposite former foe Max Holloway, whom McGregor defeated via unanimous decision 13 years ago when the two were rising young Featherweights.

Now, they’ll collide after their respective championship reigns all the way up at 170 pounds. With his return finally announced, McGregor took to social media to thank his fans for the support and promise greatness in his comeback performance. Thank you for all the love, support, and encouragement over the last few days, people!

❤️ I am feeling very energised entering intense training camp because of it! 💪 I am very grateful for the team I have around me. My coaches and training partners, we are all fully tuned in… pic.
