TOPEKA (KSNT) – Kansas State comes up short in the Big 12 Quarterfinals. The Wildcats would be unable to ignite their bats, leading to a 4-2 loss against No. 9 West Virginia.
The Mountaineers grabbed the early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The ‘Cats would limit WVU’s bats until the sixth when they plated three runs to grab a 4-0 lead. The Wildcats would get their first runs on the board in the seventh when Grant Gallagher hit a two-run home run to cut the deficit to two.
K-State would be unable to add any more runs to the board, with just a four-hit performance day. The Wildcats will await their fate in the NCAA Selection Show on Monday, May 25, at 11 a. m.
