Fans believe Leylah Fernandez should fire her dad as her coach

Social media is reacting to Leylah Fernandez ‘s father, Jorge Fernandez, appearing to speak disrespectfully to her during her high stakes match with fellow Canadian Victoria Mboko in Strasbourg. Fernandez lost the match 6-4, 6-4. He was caught on a hot mic talking to her during a break in action.

Fernandez was the 2021 US Open finalist. Perhaps there is something lost in translation, and he implied that Mboko’s successes were more recent. Regardless, it is hard to watch a player get dressed down by a parent on a public stage.
