World Cup 2026: United States gets more brutal injury news days ahead of roster reveal
The United States men’s national team suffered another blow over the weekend. Star defender Chris Richards tore two ligaments in his ankle, Premier League club Crystal Palace manager told reporters on Thursday . The U.
S. will announce its roster for the 2026 World Cup on Tuesday. Richards likely would have been a lock, but his status for the tournament is up in the air.

“I think it’s stable, but quite swollen, and we have to deal with the swelling,” Glasner said . “He has to get back on the pitch to be available, and it takes time. ” Citing a source, ESPN’s Jeff Carlisle said Richards could still be ready for the World Cup.
This is the third significant injury the Americans have sustained leading up to the event as Johnny Cardoso and Patrick Agyemang have both suffered ailments that have made them unlikely to play in the World Cup which starts next month. Team USA plays its first World Cup game on June 12 at 9 p. m.
