West Morris girls, Morris Hills boys add to track championship haul

BOONTON — West Morris might need a new banner. The girls track and field team added the Morris County team title to its illustrious spring resume on May 21. It is the Wolfpack’s first county championship since 1976, long before even head coach Tanya LaBell was born.
West Morris also won the Morris County Relays small-school plaque, NJAC East, and NJSIAA North 2, Group 2 this spring. The Morris Hills boys defended their county title. The Scarlet Knights had taken home NJAC East and Morris County Relays indoors and outdoors.
“We just have crazy good athletes. We’re not the biggest school, but we have enough good girls,” said Wolfpack sophomore Johanna Olsen, who won the discus and was second in the shot put at the two-day meet. “It feels so good.
We work so well together. ” On the first day of competition, West Morris juniors Alanna Parkes and Georgia Hostler went 1-2 in the 100 meters, picking up 18 points. Both also posted new personal bests, and Parkes’ winning time of 12.
