Sarkisian is going through the 13th year of his head coaching career in college football, his sixth with the Longhorns. He has made the effort to elevate the program back to serious contention for the College Football Playoff. He led them to the CFP semifinals in 2024, but saw the team slightly regress by being absent the following year.
Sarkisian is looking forward to how his Longhorns squad performs this time around. While speaking with media on Thursday, he decided to fire shots at the Texas Tech Red Raiders for their schedule as he describes it as one his backups could dominate in. “There’s a team in our state that plays in another conference that has a schedule that I would argue if I played with our twos and our threes, we could go undefeated, and they’ll probably make the CFP this year,” Sarkisian said, via On3 Sports.
