Patrick Bailey had a solo home run, Brayan Rocchio had three hits, including two doubles, and the visiting Cleveland Guardians won their sixth straight game, 3-1 over the slumping Detroit Tigers on Thursday, May 21. Daniel Scheemann and Jose Ramirez knocked in the other runs for the Guardians, who completed a four-game series sweep while winning for the ninth time in their last 10 games. The Tigers have lost six straight and 14 of their last 16.

Starter Joey Cantillo (4-1) gave up three hits and three walks and struck out six in 5⅔ innings. Hunter Gaddis pitched the ninth for his first save this season. Detroit starter Casey Mize (2-3) gave up two runs and four hits without a walk while striking out five in 6⅔ innings.

Canton native Dillon Dingler hit a solo homer for the Tigers' lone run. Detroit loaded the bases in the first on Kevin McGonigle's single, Dingler's double and Jahmai Jones' two-out walk. Cantillo escaped the jam as Spencer Torkelson flied out to end the inning.

The Guardians scored two two-out runs in the third after Mize retired the first eight batters. Rocchio slashed a double to right and Schneemann dropped a double near the right-field line to bring him home. Ramirez followed with a run-scoring single.
