The status of New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers for Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season remains up in the air. Nabers suffered a torn ACL and meniscus in Week 4 last season and has been recovering ever since. Recently, The Athletic’s Dan Duggan reported that Nabers had a second surgery to remove scar tissue, but the procedure isn’t expected to impact his recovery timeline.
“Giants WR Malik Nabers underwent a second surgery on his knee to remove scar tissue that was causing stiffness, according to sources,” Duggan reported. “This second surgery isn’t expected to impact Nabers’ recovery timeline. ” On Thursday, Giants head coach John Harbaugh touched on Nabers’ recovery and said the hope is that Nabers is ready for Week 1 , which has been the hope all along.

It’s an ACL and whatever else he had in that knee. Not a simple knee, so, he’s in the slog of it, the grind of it, I would say. So, he’s fighting through it.
