LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - MAY 21: Ketlen Vieira of Brazil reacts after her split-decision victory over Holly Holm in a bantamweight bout during the UFC Fight Night event at UFC APEX on May 21, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC) Ketlen Vieira is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Jacqueline Cavalcanti as part of the UFC Vegas 117 MMA event last weekend in Las Vegas, maintaining her place in the Top 5 of the women’s bantamweight division . “Fenomeno” improved to 16-5 with the win and already holds victories over former 135-pound champions Miesha Tate and Holly Holm, among others.

Apparently that wasn’t enough to keep her on the active roster, according to MMA Fighting . Vieira, 34, was recently removed alongside light heavyweight bruisers Ivan Erslan and Tuco Tokkos, who also competed at UFC Vegas 117 (Erslan defeated Tokkos by unanimous decision). In addition, Daniel Barez will not be returning to the Octagon after falling to Luis Gurule on the judges’ scorecards at UFC Vegas 117 , which makes me wonder if that fight card was cursed.

UFC Vegas 117 went head-to-head with “Rousey vs. Carano” on Netflix . Fortunately for the parties no longer welcome in UFC, more options are beginning to appear on the horizon.

In addition to PFL , former Strikeforce and Bellator MMA boss Scott Coker is returning with a new fight promotion and MVP is looking to stage a second show after the success of Rousey vs. Carano . Let’s just hope they can avoid getting suckered into another one of these non-paying events .
