Florida football to face South Carolina for homecoming at The Swamp
Florida football, which has gone 21-5 in homecoming games since the 2018 season, now knows its 2026 homecoming opponent.
Florida football announced its first homecoming game under head coach Jon Sumrall will take place Oct. 10 at The Swamp against South Carolina (TV, kickoff time TBD). The Florida Gators are 21-5 in homecoming games since 2000 and haven't lost a homecoming game since falling 38-17 to Missouri during the 2018 season.
Last season, Florida beat Mississippi State 23-21 on Oct. 18, 2025, in its homecoming matchup behind 150 yards rushing and one TD from running back Jadan Baugh and a game-clinching interception from former UF defensive lineman Michai Boireau in the closing seconds. South Carolina brings back standout quarterback LaNorris Sellers from a team that went 4-8 last season.
Sellers passed for 2,437 yards with 13 TDs to 8 interceptions for the Gamecocks last season, while rushing for 270 yards and 5 TDs. Florida is also coming off a 4-8 season. The Gators bring back five starters on offense and five starters on defense.
UF's offensive attack this season is expected to be led by Baugh, who rushed for 1,170 yards with a combined 10 TDs (8 rushing, 2 receiving) last season. Kevin Brockway is The Gainesville Sunโsย Florida ย beat writer. Contact him at kbrockway@gannett.
