Photo by Jason Miller/Getty Images LeBron James’ future with the Lakers is under the spotlight again after another playoff exit put his next move back in the headlines. The 41-year-old is set to become an unrestricted free agent, having played the 2025-26 season on his $52. 6 million player option.

Now, that uncertainty has spilled onto social media after James liked an Instagram post showing him in a Cavaliers jersey with the caption “come home”. LeBron James sparks Cleveland Cavaliers return talk with telling Instagram like Photo by G Fiume/Getty Images The post quickly gained traction, as a return to Cleveland remains the most emotional option if James decides to leave Los Angeles this summer. Drafted by the Cavaliers in 2003, James spent his first seven NBA seasons there before returning in 2014 and delivering the franchise’s historic 2016 title.

A third spell in Cleveland would carry clear narrative appeal, especially with the Cavaliers having a competitive roster that is currently facing the Knicks in the Eastern Conference finals. There have also been reports of mutual interest between James and Cleveland, although interest alone does not make the move simple. The Cavaliers are already near the second apron, limiting their ability to offer James a competitive salary without significant roster changes.

So while the Instagram like adds fuel to speculation, it is not a clear signal. The emotional pull is obvious, but the practical hurdles remain.
