A senior right-hander, Buschelman threw a six-inning perfect game and struck out 12 batters to lead the Highlanders to a 10-0 win over Springfield. Buschelman received 40.

37% of the reader poll votes. Elmira baseball player Asher Varozza was second (29. 83%).

Here are the other nominees. Cooper Beban, Sheldon golf Sheldon senior Cooper Beban shot a 73 (+1) to place second at the Class 6A Special District 3 regional tournament May 11 at Eagle Point Golf Club. In the process, Beban helped the Irish claim the team title with a 23-stroke victory over runner-up South Medford.
